A student at South Broward High School in Hollywood was taken into custody Monday morning for causing a disruption at a school function, authorities said.
According to Hollywood police, officers responded to the school, located at 1901 N Federal Highway, following a “security concern” and cleared the campus as they investigated what occurred.
Police later confirmed that a student had been detained and all students and staff members were safe.
According to a couple of seniors at the school who spoke with Local 10, a fellow student was going through security but didn’t want to be patted down so he ran into the school.
They said the campus was placed on lockdown as officers searched for the student.
Police said the lockdown has since been lifted and the school day is resuming as normal.
