Local 10’s eARTday Art Contest: Vote for your favorite piece now through Apr. 6

From feathered wildlife to fashion forward pieces, the eighth annual Local 10 eARTh Day Art Contest showcased the ingenuity and teamwork of our local art students.

Last month, all South Florida schools were invited to submit original works of art with an environmental theme that featured repurposed or recycled items. The schools were given five weeks to create their masterpieces and submit them online by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 9.

It was a daunting task having to choose only 10 finalists among all the fine entries, but our panel of judges pulled if off just in time for the voting phase.

From March 17 through April 6 at 11:59 p.m., Local 10 viewers can vote for their favorite work of art. You can cast one vote per valid and active IP address per day.

The school with the eARTh Day artwork that receives the most votes wins. The winning school will be announced on Local 10 News on Earth Day, April 22, and will be awarded $4,500.

In partnership with Publix, in the last seven years, the environmentally-centered contest has recognized the following schools for their winning entries and collectively awarded $31,500 to the schools’ art programs:

1. Air Base K-8 in Homestead

2. Lawton Chiles Middle School in Hialeah

3. Coral Gables Preparatory Academy

4. Saint Bonaventure Catholic School in Davie

5. Tropical Elementary in Plantation

6. Sunset Elementary in South Miami

7. Epiphany Catholic School in Miami
