Northwestern football coach’s fundraising discloses controversial Uber rides

Miami Northwestern Senior High School’s football players are preparing to kick off the season on Aug. 23, and they aim to win the Florida High School Athletic Association’s Class 3A Championship.

Coach Teddy Bridgewater’s public plea for help for his Miami Northwestern student athletes on Monday resulted in a new scandal that has been making headlines and may add unnecessary stress.

“Each week I spend around $700 on uber fares,” Bridgewater wrote on Facebook while raising $30,000 for the Be The Bridge Foundation.

The former NFL quarterback’s post listed other expenses, such as $14,000 for a camp that included $2,200 for food and $9,500 for clothing.

The Palm Beach Post reported on Thursday that the FHSAA had received an “allegation” against the team and Bridgewater.

The FHSAA has rules related to coaches providing free transportation to students or buying anything for students.
