Party poopers: Less than 10% of American friendships cross political lines

Only 3 to 8% of Americans are friends with someone from the other party — and when they are, the bond is weaker. A new study finds most U.S. friendships stay within political lines, as cross-party ties grow rarer, tenser and less satisfying.
